Pacis-Dableo, draw; Laylo-Bitoon, draw; Gomez-Aquino, 1-0; Senador- Milagrosa, draw; Dimakiling-Rodriguez, 1-0, Nadera-Villanueva 0-1.
Below is a portion of the pooled press release from the event after round 3. Thanks to journalist Ignacio Dee for this information.
INTERNATIONAL Master and no. 2 seed Ronald Dableo forced a queen-less Ildefonso Mantupar Jr. to surrender after a complicated middle game battle to prevail and lead 14 other campaigners to a share of the lead with three points in the third round.
Keeping pace with Dableo are 14 other bidders, led by third seed IM Darwin Laylo, three-time national junior champion NM John Paul Gomez, Raymond Salcedo, NM Emmanuel Senador, IM Oliver Dimakiling, NM Rolando Nolte, IM Barlo Nadera, IM Richard Bitoon and Jose Aquino, among others.
While Laylo and the other top-ranked players breezed past their opponents, 7th seed IM Chito Garma misfired and lost against Raymond Salcedo, who is seeded no. 34 in the tournament.
Woman entry Jedara Docena forced IM Yves Ranola to a draw, while WIM Beverly Mendoza outclassed Ana Paulo Castillo for her second win in three matches.
