Talk like this will get us nowhere. Is this damned if you do and damned if you don't? If Cong. Pichay had not put in any money we would all have criticized him for his lack of support. Now he gives money and you are asking "whose money"?
The only purpose for talk like is to slander. Crab mentality - trying to raise yourself at the expense of others.

It is not my personal expectation that the NCFP head (or even FIDE, say, at the global level) should put up their own money. To my mind, such a practice will immediately result in one problem: that the chess community becomes beholden to that money and the personality who wields that money.
Anyway, I thought it was a fair question by a Pinoy reader and it deserved proper airing.
That's one of the good things about the Closet GM. He's his own man and not scared to air controversial views. So it means that one day you'll love his work, the next you'll tear your hair out. Anyway, keep up the good work. A great blog- lots of interesting items and anecdotes. Interesting too for the Aussie reader- I'll be following the progress of the Philippines team with interest!
Is this the same problem GK raised against the FIDE prexy? Im the one raised the que earlier about the money thing. Will get us nowhere? C'mon BANG! Stick on issue not on the people involved on the issue. He can give money as long as it is clean, just and fair, otherwise its better if he does not. "Crab mentality", raising oneself at the expense of others? Spending 130,000 per player not counting the expenses of the officials, trainers, captains and even the "chaperons" of non-playing members, tsk tsk tsk.
I agree that the question of the source of money is a valid question.
As president of NCFP and financier as well, there is a potential issue of conflict of interest, regardless of the noble intention of Congressman Pichay. He is already flexing his position by threatening any team member of expulsion from the team if his wishes is not followed.
This is precisely the intention of addressing the question. Regardless, we wish the team well. And we thank Cong. Pichay for all his noble contributions.
