As we know now, of course, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has just got himself re-elected as FIDE president. Here is the breaking news from Chessbase that includes an analysis by David Levy.
The FIDE website is not slow to make the announcement.
But what we find interesting is this little piece by Robert Huntington. Robert reports of a 10-15 minute coffee break that turned into a long 2-hour delay. What was happening during those 2 hours?

It takes time to stuff the envelopes with cash you know! haha
Two of his famous quotes:
"Irrespective of what I tell people, I give them instructions on a subconscious level, a code...I am creating around the republic a kind of extrasensory field, and it helps us a lot in our projects." -KIRSAN
"In my country, there is only one man who plays politics, and that is me. The other men have to work, the women have to bear children, and the children have to play chess."
He's right about the children. NO MEN would have voted for such a cretin.

I wonder if the next world championship match will be sponsored by Kirsan's alien friends. haha.
Professional chess had a real chance to move forward in this election, unfortunately corrupt delegates chose money over principle. It can only go downhill from here.
