"Chess is very simple. He goes there, I go here. I go there, he goes here."
Trust the tele to list her as number 3 in Australia. Would have only taken them a few minutes to check she is the number 3 female in Australia and not the outright 3rd.
There is no such thing as bad publicity. Number three of this or that - NO BODY OUTSIDE OF CHESS REALLY CARES! Only you would think it necessary to to tell the Australian chess scene that "this" should have been "that." V..
That maybe true Matthew but you have missed the point. They have given her an imaginary strength so as to justify part of the story. The reality is that in the world of chess Arianne isnt really well known,by describing her as the Kournikova of chess and inflating her playing strength they are trying to give some higher value to the story. If this story had have involved Kostenuik, who really is a strong chess player and is internationally known,as opposed to Arianne it wouldnt have even been picked up by the australian press. As for the "no such thing as bad publicity" theory,I have one word for you.KIRSAN.
