Chessbase on Gormallygate

At long last, Chessbase has released their promised version of that punching incident. Except for GM Yasser Seirawan's role in apparently breaking up the fight, I'm not sure that we're learning anything spectacularly new. There are links to all the usual known news reports and that's about it.

But at least CB does provide some pictures of the party. If you look closely, there's IM Gary Lane and New Zealand's Puchen Wang somewhere in there. We love the photo of an Angolan chess player.

thanks, good write up, good pics, NOW CAN WE ALL GET ON WITH CHESS? Or does the intellectual sport no longer exist? Enough laughs on the chess geeks, nerds as they are known! Caoili is obviously loving every minute of her hour of fame!

It's worth mentioning that Puchen Wang qualified for the FM title by scoring over 66.66% in an olympiad - he will probably qualify on rating in any case.

GM Seirawan and his wife took me to lunch last time they were in town, and i can assure you, his grip is that of a trained warrior, with a good gentle heart.

he studied karate, but the depth of it, is not clear to me, but he is as strong as an ox.

warmly, david
