It seems that my tip late last year on planning for Queenstown worked out rather well for some folks. Well here's another one and this is especially for those who, like me, now prefer to fly instead of being on the road for hours and possibly being snagged in traffic.
If you're in Sydney and heading off to this year's Doeberl, you could more easily head down by flying. I've just spotted and booked a $116 return trip ticket on Virgin Blue. Even cheaper if you have only carry-on. For those in Melbourne, it's slightly more expensive - about $136 return.

And around $110 return with Tiger from Melbourne - the flight times back are alright but you would have to fly up on Thursday according to the web. And as one family learnt flying down to Melbourne for Chess Kids in December if you are not there 45 minutes before your Tiger flight you dont go - no discussion.
theres even more cheaper flights from Adelaide and Melbourne with tiger airways, just looked a $59 each way...
I think Amiel's overall point was just comparing the travel time and costs for the trip between Sydney and Canberra, where normally taking the flight option is not competitive.
Right...but tips on travelling from other states/territories are also welcome.
