Australia's been going pretty well this Olympiad!

With Zhao winning against Korchnoi, Johansen on 5/5... it's great!

One thing puzzling English readers is Adams being dropped from the team for the Russia match. It's speculated that he was ill. Do you know anything about this, or whether it was just a decision based on form or fatigue?

@ejh

I sat next to S. Berry and Mark Huba yesterday. Our theory is that he didn't want any risks losing 3 in a row!

But perhaps there is some other reason, but I personally don't know them. As I said in the live blog yesterday, I'm not following the ENG team.

But I tell you what, Mark and Stephen were getting all a bit excited! Understandably.

Ah, I just wondered whether anything more specific had actually been said, i.e. either "Adams is being rested" or "Adams is ill". Evidently not. Which is odd, because on the face of it it is extraordinary to rest your number one against the top seeds.
