New Zealand's performance so far:
if you look at the game points to compare with previous events:
in 1986 and 1988 they scored 30/56 = 54%, lowest was 25.5/56 in 1996 = 46%, so far this time 17/40 = 42.5%
The women's team three times have scored 18/42 in 1994,96 and 2004, and 17.5/39 in 2006 - have 20/40 so far, outscoring the men!
Only Roger Nokes has a performance result higher than his rating in the Open team; Milligan, Gao and Smith performing over their rating in the Women's team.
The new scoring system appears to penalise teams that start well, but have a low tiebreak score as the pairing method is top vs bottom - so NZ racing to 10 match points from 5 wins but with a low tiebreak now suffering as it gets the top team each time in its score group. Usually NZ gets 1 maybe 2 4-0 or 0-4 scores - this time it has 4 such scores in 10 rounds, and only one score of 2.5-1.5
