This was a great effort from all of the Ranges kids. Denise and Ethan and most of the juniors mentioned in this article, plus other adults and juniors, will also be playing in the Ranges Summer Sizzler, a weekend event played at the Upwey club this weekend (6-7 Feb).

So far we have 27 entrants, including two international masters, with a total prize fund over $600 with 6 junior-restricted prizes. It is not too late to enter either, or enter on the day (by 10.15am Saturday). We are also having a Sunday BBQ, raffle and guessing competition. Please go to the Ranges site (www.rangeschessclub.com.au) for other details.

That Under 8 playoff between Ethan Lim and Noah Gong was an epic. It went all the way to armageddon blitz before it was decided.

I was really impressed by the standard of play and the amount of effort from those two and the two Willathgamuwas in the Under 8 section. A real highlight of running the tournament to witness the efforts of those four players and they more than justified the existence of the Under 8 section.
