Indonesian GM Edhi Handoko has passed away due to a heart attack. He was only 48 years of age. More in the
Jakarta Globe: "The celebrated champion, who began his career in the mid-1970s, was know to challengers and fans alike as a man who not only understood the game, but as a man who passed a wealth of knowledge on to the next generation."
GM Handoko was captain of the Indonesian Open team in Dresden.
ReplyDeleteIt was only in November that I was chatting with him at Changi Airport as we waited for our connection to Frankfurt.
GM Handoko played a few times in Australia, gaining his GM title in the early nineties.
We competed in the same tournaments in the eighties and early nineties. I met him again in Dresden after many years. Who could have known he would pass away few months later
